Minot Mallard Vision:
Mallard baseball in Minot is all about bringing America’s greatest pastime into your backyard. It’s about seeing sunlight splash across Corbett Field, highlighting brightly colored uniforms and manicured green grass. It’s about that vicarious thrill we all experience when our favorite player circles the bases in a triumphant home run trot, when a pitcher strikes out the opposing slugger to end the game or when the fleet-footed base-stealer proudly stands up and brushes dirt off his uniform. It’s about the mouth-watering smell of grilling burgers and hot dogs rising through the stands at game time. It’s about sounds of the baseball park like the crack of the bat as the hitter uses a round bat to squarely hit a round ball, the umpire yelling “You’re out !” It’s about the cheer of the crowd and the reverent singing of the National Anthem. It’s especially all about the look of hope in youngster’s eyes as they wait in the stands, gloves on hands, for a foul ball, or when they anticipate a prized autograph from their favorite player or have the honor of being a batboy or batgirl. It’s about the hope that springs eternal in each child as he/she idolizes professional athletes and dreams of someday being just like them.
